Veolia, a global environmental services leader, has signed three strategic memorandums of understanding with major Saudi Arabian companies to advance the Kingdom's environmental security and support Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
The three agreements are:
- With Acwa (Water Desalination): Focuses on optimizing seawater desalination plant performance through improved energy efficiency, chemical optimization, and digital practices. The collaboration could reduce CO₂ emissions by 500,000 tons annually while lowering operating costs and strengthening water security for Acwa's 9.7 million m³ per day capacity.
- With Ma'aden (Mining Industry): Addresses water cycle management and industrial waste in Saudi Arabia's mining sector. Veolia will optimize water treatment and reuse processes while exploring circular economy opportunities through material recovery and valorization.
- With Khazeen (LPG Storage): Involves deploying environmental technologies for decarbonization of the company's storage infrastructure nationwide, including industrial water treatment, hazardous waste management, and integrated facility management services.
These partnerships align with Saudi Vision 2030's priorities of resource preservation, circular economy advancement, and decarbonization, while strengthening local environmental expertise. Veolia has been present in Saudi Arabia since 1975 and has over 50 years of experience supporting the Kingdom's essential infrastructure development.
